Over the Counter Culture Wiki

Nirvana's frontman Kurt Cobain did a shoot in 1993 wearing Christian Roth's the Series 6558. Cobain made these sunglasses famous, and dubbed "Cobain Shades". They were later discontinued by Christian Roth.

However, 20 years after Kurt Cobain's death, the "Cobain Shades" have made a return, except now within the rap culture. Artists such as Lil Yachty, Migos, Lil Pump, and others are rocking them. Except now, they're called "Clout Goggles" (dubbed by Denzel Curry). Brands such as the original, Christian Roth, and others such as Acne Studios, Raen, and Saint Laurent are making versions of Cobain's sunglasses are trying to capitalize on this trend.

Like Cobain, these rappers are catalysts, starting new trends instead of going along with what everyone else is doing.
